Each classic I read ends with a reflection: what I take into my own life. This one comes from Anne of Green Gables and a research article on belonging in schools.
Each classic I read ends with a reflection: what I take into my own life. This one comes from Anne of Green Gables and a research article on belonging in schools.
Thinking about Anne and the article showed me that belonging is the start of real growth. I saw myself in Anne when I first arrived at Andover, unsure if I would fit in. Like her, I felt out of place. I even cried on my first day when my mother left on the airplane. Yet I soon met people who encouraged me, and I spent time with dorm mates in the common room, chatting and watching movies. The article confirmed that belonging not only makes school more enjoyable but also strengthens resilience. When I felt included in the community, I found the courage to recover from setbacks and keep going. Anne’s story reminded me that belonging does not depend on perfection. It is about being accepted for who you really are, and that is an insight I will carry with me into the future.
Pearl’s Note:
Have you ever had a moment when belonging gave you the courage to grow? I’d love to hear about it.
