This weekend was so fun. My friend won three tickets to the Swimming World Cup Finals in Toronto and invited me and our other friend to go with her. My mom dropped me off at her house and then her dad drove us to the Scarborough Pan Am Centre for the meet.

Before we sat down, I bought a giant KitKat bar and a bag of peach gummies, which was the best combo ever. I finished all my gummies during the races, but by the time I was done, my KitKat had completely melted so I didn’t even get to eat it. Still, watching the world champions swim live totally made up for it. They were so fast, and in one of the men’s races a girl in the stands yelled “THAT’S MY HUZZ” which made everyone laugh.

I felt so proud knowing that I once swam in the exact same pool these near Olympians were swimming in. It was such a cool feeling.

The only sad part was that Summer McIntosh didn’t compete because of an “undisclosed illness.” I really hope she feels better soon.

After the meet ended, we sat on a bench in the drop off zone waiting for my friend’s dad. Traffic was crazy so we had to wait for a long time. The three of us tried to entertain ourselves. I did cartwheels since I was the only one who could, we danced around, and we watched Weixin reels on my friend’s phone. While we were watching, we saw the World Cup swimmers heading to their buses. We waved like total fangirls and some of them even waved back.

We were still giggling and whispering about it when we saw more swimmers walking by. There was this one guy on a call who totally side eyed us while we were laughing. It was so funny and we could not stop laughing.

The whole day was amazing. I got to see world class swimmers, laugh with my friends, and even get waved at by some of the pros. Definitely one for the memories. 🩵
